Constructing Maps for Autonomous Robotics: An Introductory Conceptual Overview

نویسندگان

چکیده

Mapping the environment is a powerful technique for enabling autonomy through localization and planning in robotics. This article seeks to provide global overview of actionable map construction robotics, outlining basic problems, introducing techniques overcoming them, directing reader toward established research covering these problem solution domains more detail. Multiple levels abstraction are covered non-exhaustive vertical slice, starting with fundamental constructing metric occupancy grids Simultaneous Localization techniques. On top these, topological meshes semantic maps reviewed, comparison drawn between multiple representation formats. Furthermore, datasets metrics used performance benchmarks discussed, as challenges faced some that deviate from typical laboratory conditions. Finally, recent advances robot control without explicit touched upon.

Ontologies and Conceptual Metaphor in Autonomous Robotics

mobile robots can make use of fuzzy processing and computing with words in order to extend their capabilities by allowing them to be less literal and exact match oriented. Both sensor data interpretation and planned activities subtleties benefit from fuzzy inexact processing.[1] The sciences of astronomy and physics have long used conceptual metaphor productively, in such terms as " event horiz...

Imprecise reliability: An introductory overview

The main aim of this paper is to define what imprecise reliability is, and discuss a variety of problems that can be solved by means of a framework of imprecise probabilities. From this point of view, various branches of reliability analysis are considered, including analysis of monotone systems, repairable systems, multi-state systems, structural reliability, software reliability, human reliab...

An Intensive Introductory Robotics Course Without Prerequisites

Introduction We present the details of a first course in robotics, targeted to the 11to 16-year-old age group, and offered as part of a summer program for academically gifted students. The course features a fundamental emphasis on project-based and group learning, and assumes no student background in robotics or computer programming. For this reason, it focuses on solving challenging problems u...
